World Diabetes day celebrations were jointly organized by Lisie College of Allied Health Sciences and Dept. of Diabetology and Endocrinology, Lisie Hospital on 12 November 2021. The programme was inaugurated by Rev. Fr. Dr. Paul Karedan (Director, Lisie Medical & Educational Institutions). Principal of LCOAHS, Dr. Shabeer S. Iqbal welcomed the gathering. First session of health talk was delivered by Dr. George Paulose, (Senior Consultant Physician & Diabetologist) who elaborated on the General aspects of Diabetes mellitus. Dr. Arun.S. Menon (Consultant Endocrinologist) spoke on the theme for 2021 world diabetes day, ‘Access to Diabetes Care’ and the challenges we face. Then the students of B.Sc. MLT & DMLT from LCOAHS presented an awareness drama based on the theme ”Access to Diabetes”. Ms. Jovita (Diabetes Educator, Lisie Hospital) gave a talk on Insulin Education & demonstration of Insulin Devices. Later on, Mrs. Anitha Kuriakose (Dietician, Lisie Hospital) gave a exhaustive lecture on diet in diabetes. Sr. Jilcy (2nd yr B.Sc. MLT) delivered the vote of thanks. Free blood glucose checking, Diabetic food stall and Diabetic footwear stalls were arranged as part of the program. The event concluded with the Lisie Anthem by the students of B.Sc. MLT batch. It was a fruitful & educative event which helped spread the message about the dangers of diabetes mellitus and the way to deal with it. The World Diabetes Day is celebrated every year on 14th November but we take a pledge to provide a quality service to all our patients through out the year.
